BIO

 

Julie Crothers is a freelance dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Berkeley, CA. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Julie earned a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and a BA in Arts Administration from Elon University in North Carolina. Professionally, Julie has danced with AXIS Dance Company, performing works by Joe Goode, Sonya Delwaide, Marc Brew, Alex Ketley, Bobbi Jene Smith, Maurya Kerr, Amy Seiwert, Sophie Stanley, and Stephan Koplowitz, and touring to more than 35 cities nationally and internationally. She has also danced for Renay Aumiller Dances (Durham, NC), Sarah Bush Dance Project (Oakland, CA), Tara Pilbrow Dance (Alameda, CA), Wax Poets (Berkeley, CA) and Kickbal (San Francisco, CA). Her work has been presented on stages throughout the Bay Area and beyond including Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, ODC Theatre, Joe Goode Annex, Gibney Dance Center and Joria Mainstage Theatre in NYC, and Bates Dance Festival New Works Showcase. She has also presented solo work at CHOPSHOP Dance Festival in Bellevue, WA and International Women in Dance Leadership Conference in Philadelphia, PA in 2019. Julie has a passion for making dance accessible to all people and is currently on staff at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center.
